My fathers great-grandfather came from Windelsham.
I would be interested in any connections which might still exist there.

Company : Ruislip Online
I write a local web site, the one for Ruislip. Hence my dropping in here. BUT I also write the tribute gigs site and wonder if folk in the windlesham area were aware that there is live music going on locally. I think they could do with a bit more support down there.......

City : Dallas, Texas USA
My name is John Leigh and my brother, Malcolm and I grew up in Windlesham from a time that I do not recall in the late forties up till the early seventies. Some may recall my last name, as my father Dr. Derek Leigh was one of the local doctors and probably witnessed the birth of many, many children in Windlesham during several decades at the Maternity Home (is it still going?)on Hatton Hill. He started in practice in Windlesham with a Margaret Milter, an American lady, from Bagshot when he finished medical school after WWII. One of my personal earliest memories of Windlesham was standing outside our home (the first of three in Windlesham called 'Woodlands') waving flags for the 1952 Coronation as a procession passed our house decorated with the flags of the United Kingdom; I would have been six years old.
Anyway, apart from seeing if there is anyone out there who might remember my family - I am the only one remaining today - I am also making a more current inquiry. Just recently within the last two weeks, there was a small group, maybe only a party of 4, who visited the Steak & Ale Restaurant in Plano, Texas (suburb of Dallas, Texas) and they were served by my daughter Lindsay, who works there. There was an English lady in the group visiting from - you guessed it - Windlesham. My daughter contacted me as soon as she could to tell me, but I just could not get there in time to make the acquaintance. If anyone might know who this was, I would be delighted to exchange greetings and to find out what has happened to Windlesham in the last few years - a quite different place I am sure. Lindsay understood this lady had lived in Windlesham for many years - so there seems a good opportunity to exchange some news. Regardless, I would be delighted to hear from anyone, who has memories of the village back in the 50's and 60's.

I'm here visiting this site because I was born in Windlesham in 1954. My parents and I emmigrated to Canada via Cunard Lines in 1956, so I have no recollection of the land where I was born. My father, Raymond Ernest Ellard, was from Egham and my mother, Audrey May Hales, is from Ashford, Middlesex. If anyone can share any information with me, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

If my information is correct, some years ago the ladies of Windlesham made a quilt with oak leaves and acorn motifs. It was featured in a magazine at that time and I had the cutting. I should be grateful if one of its makers would send me a picture and the story behind the quilt. I am a quilter myself and thought the block was beautiful even from the tiny cutting I had.

Hi, i am trying to find out if anyone has researched men and women of Virginia Water that were killed in the Second World War? I am researching aircraft crashes in Shropshire and one of the pilots that was killed was F/Lt Roy Harold Phillips (138663), RAFVR, aged 23. He was the Son of Harold Alexander and Marie Ethel Phillips, of Virginia Water, Surrey; husband of Marjorie Eileen Phillips.
I am wondering if anyone can help with any further information on this pilot? Perhaps somebody has researched war time casualties? I would be very grateful for any help. Many thanks, Tom
